Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise hopes to see a continuation in their upward trend in the league when they resume duties in a week’s time.
"It’s been a roller-coaster season. We are still a young team with a lot of potential as well. So, we are actually glad that we won matches in the opening matches of the season,” Modise told the media.
City went into the league recess with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to go second on the log ahead of Kaizer Chiefs.
After a barren run of results that led many to believe coach Benni McCarthy was feeling the heat, the Citizens seems to have pulled their campaign back on track following successive wins.
“We are still in the mix of things. We hope to continue to grow and get results,” Modise said.
Following a six-year stay with Downs, Modise surprised all and sundry when he decided to join City despite the interest of a few famous teams.
He credits the warm reception from everyone at the club, starting with chairman John Comitis that allowed him to adjust well.
"I’ve been received well by my teammates, the chairman and the coaching staff. The reception has been good and the club has made it easy for me to adjust to life in Cape Town,” Modise said.
