Jack Army manager Paul Clement is happy with the Ghanaian's impact despite their midweek loss to the Lilywhites

After his nondescript performance last weekend, Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew appears to have left an impression on manager Paul Clement on Wednesday, despite a 3-1 reversal to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Owing to the absence of Fernando Llorente, the Ghanaian was handed a second successive start and apparently took his chance this time around.

The 25-year-old set up Wayne Routledge's 11th minute opener, but Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen scored late to ensure three points for the away side.

“That result is very tough to take, for me, for the players and for the fans,” Clement said.

“We got off to a really good start. We scored a route-one goal with a ball over the top.

"Ayew did really well and produced some good skill to find Routledge.

That gave us a lot of belief.

“I thought Ayew played really well. He worked really hard and he enabled us to press more at the right times because he is athletic.

"He can be satisfied with his performance.”

The midweek's fixture makes it seven league appearances involving three starts for Ayew since a January move from Championship outfit Aston Villa.

With Llorente expected back for Saturday's visit to West Ham United, it is unclear whether the Black Star will make it three starts in a row.
