The Team of Choice attacking midfielder scooped the Player of the Month award

After leading Orlando Pirates to three wins in January 2018, coach Milutin Sredojevic has bagged the Premier Soccer League (PSL)’s Coach of the Month award.

The Sea Robbers collected maximum points over rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, Baroka FC and beat Platinum Stars to sit at number three on PSL log table, having netted nine goals in January.

‘Micho’ faced competition from the likes of Free State Stars’ Luc Eymael, Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela, Fadlu Davids of Maritzburg United and reigning champions mentor, Gavin Hunt of Bidvest Wits.

The Serbian mentor is already receiving rave reviews on his work after transforming the Soweto giants with new players that have continued to impress this term.

On the other hand, the league announced that the Team of Choice’s midfielder, Siphesihle Ndlovu, was the winner for the Payer of the Month accolade for January.

Ndlovu hails from Ashdown, a township in Pietermaritzburg and becomes the first player in the club’s history to win the Player of the Month award.

The midfielder is one of the key performers for the KwaZulu-Natal midlands side this season and walked away with the gong after impressing in all their five during the month of January.

Based on his duties in the heart of the park, the PSL judges felt that the Team of Choice development product has delivered as a central midfielder with aplomb, possessing some commendable defensive qualities whilst initiating most of their attacking moves.

In one of his stellar performances for the Team of Choice, the 21-year-old provided all the assists during their massive 3-0 win over Ea Lla Koto away from home on January 20 at Goble Park Stadium.

Despite facing stiff competition against the likes of in-form Pirates’ winger Luvuyo Memela, Kaizer Chiefs centre back, Daniel Cardoso and the Clever Boys’ skipper, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Ndlovu came out tops to claim his first award in the elite division.
