The forward netted the opener as the Promise Keepers defeated the People Elephants and he was pleased inspiring the triumph.

Micheal Ibe is in a happy mood after his strike steered Akwa United to a 2-1 win against Enyimba at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old forward scored in the 17th minute to give the Promise Keepers the lead before Dennis Nya's second-half strike guaranteed Abdu Maikaba's side a back-to-back win.

Despite getting on the scoresheet, the former Abia Warriors man insists that his side's victory over a 'strong' Paul Aigbogun's side was more important.

"I am happy to score again for my team but the victory was more important for us," Ibe told Goal.

"It was a good result because we knew it was not going be easy against a strong side like Enyimba. We needed the result to put ourselves in a good position and it worked out.

"It was a great feeling getting the chance to score our first goal and put my team in front early in the match and we added another goal in the second half and defended well.

On his form, Ibe expressed joy over his goal but he is still unsatisfied as he promises to continue making a good showing in the front of goal.

"Personally, I am comfortable playing in any attacking position for my team. I think that I've not done enough but will keep working hard to score more goals in whatever position I found myself."

Following the win, Akwa United are fourth on the log with 35 points from 22 games and will welcome fifth-placed Niger Tornadoes to Uyo on Sunday.
