How Real Madrid and Atletico could line up in Champions League final

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are set to face each other in a Champions League final for the second time in three years.

Diego Simeone's Atletico squeaked past Bayern Munich on away goals in the semifinals, having knocked out defending champion Barcelona last month, while Zinedine Zidane's men made Manchester City look extremely average Wednesday without really getting out of third gear.

Real Madrid's No. 1, Keylor Navas, started the season in turmoil due to the David de Gea transfer saga, but he will end it playing in goal in a Champions League final.

Ramos and Pepe remain Zinedine Zidane's preferred center back pairing when both fit, while Marcelo and Dani Carvajal are expected to be fielded at left back and right back, respectively.

There's likely to be no room for Isco or James Rodriguez in Real's XI against Atletico, with Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos chosen to battle with Atletico's hardened midfield.

It would be a huge shock if anyone but the famed BBC trident of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo muscled their way into the starting lineup in Milan, with Jese the first-choice replacement should any be struck down by injury in the following three and a half weeks.

Jan Oblak has become Atletico's rock between the sticks this season and there's no way he will be dumped by Diego Simeone for the Real match.

Three of the Rojiblancos' back four — Filipe Luis, Diego Godin and Juanfran — started the 2013-14 Champions League final, which they lost in extra time. Jose Gimenez, 21, will partner with Godin in central defense.

Koke and Gabi are also Champions League final veterans, having played every minute of the Estadio da Luz clash two years ago. Saul Niguez, 21, and Yannick Carrasco, 22, are newbies to such a stage but have racked up 85 appearances in all competitions between them so far this season.

French phenomenon Antoine Griezmann will be Atletico's danger man, having been the key attacker in knocking out Bayern and Barcelona. He'll be ably assisted by the rejuvenated Fernando Torres.
