Ghana international Raphael Dwamena is delighted by the opportunity to compete against "the best in the world" following his move to Spanish side Levante.

Having transferred to The Frogs from Swiss side FC Zurich on a four-year deal last week, the striker is set to have his first taste of La Liga on Friday, when Levante face Real Betis in the season opener.

He joins compatriot Emmanuel Boateng at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

"It was important for me to find opportunities, not only at a football level, and what is available at Levante led me to make this choice," Dwamena said at his unveiling on Monday.

"It is a step for me to develop my career in football and to go up one more level.

"The league is one of the best in the world. I am very happy with this step in my career. It's good for my personal and professional growth.

"I'm delighted to be able to play against all the good players in the league, against Real Madrid and Barcelona. But we have to focus on Levante.

"Before coming here, I had heard a lot about the club. I talked with Boateng and he told me that it is a team that helps African players a lot.

"I had very good feelings about Levante, and from that moment, I was convinced to come here. Playing with Boateng can help me."

Dwamena, who played for Austria Lustenau in 2016-17, was also once on the books of Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, featuring for feeder side Liefering.

Last season, the 22-year-old registered nine goals in 32 games involving 28 starts for Zurich in the Swiss Super League.
