Libya registered a third consecutive barren draw after failing to go past Rwanda in Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The Amavubi came into the match aware that maximum points was all they needed to remain in the competition. Prior to the match against Libya, The Antony Hey coached side had sufffered defeat against hosts Kenya and Zanzibar - 2-0 and 3-1 respectively.

The Tuaregs had held Tanzania and Kenya to an identical 0-0 draw, meaning maximum points could have done them better.

Libya started the match well, trying to use the wings to pressurize the opponent's defense, a tactic that almost paid dividends earlier on. But it was Alhairish Zakaria, who failed to capitalize on the opponents defensive errors in the 7th minute, as his short flew wide.

The East African side settled, and tried to pin their opponents, pushing them to make mistakes in their own half. Rutanga Erick could have done better in the 14th minute; he received the ball just outside the 18-yard box, only to mishit the ball, with the keeper out of position.

Ali Shniena was called into action in the 23rd minute, first parring a fierce strike that unfortunately landed on the feet of Mico Justin whose attempt hit the left post, before firing the rebound over the cross bar.

Libya created another chance seconds to the break, the defenders played in lanky forward Taher Saleh, who in turn tried to force the ball in the near post, but it bounced off the post to safety.

Even after the break, both sides dwelt more on possession, maybe avoiding conceding a goal. Chances were minimal, and when they came by, the forward men failed to utilize them, or the custodians cleared the danger.

Zanzibar lead Group A with six points, two ahead of second placed Kenya. Libya has three points after three consecutive draws while Tanzania has one point same with Rwanda.
