Al Wasl forward Caio Canedo scored a hat-trick on Friday as his side defeated Bani Yas 4-3 in round 20 of the Arabian Gulf League at Al Shamkha Stadium and earned the ‘Goalscorer Award' presented by the Pro League Committee.

The ‘Goalscorers Initiative' was started by the PLC in round six of the ongoing league campaign and was started to encourage players to score more goals as it rewards those who register three or more in a single match.

Caio scored Al Wasl's second of the game, finding space down the left flank before evading a challenge form a Bani Yas defender and finishing with the inside of his right foot into the far corner.

He then won and put away a penalty in the second half to make it 3-0 to Al Wasl.

The 26-year-old completed his hat-trick by cutting in from the left and firing low into the far corner.

Caio became the tenth player to win the award.
