Akinfenwa: Ramos lucky to avoid 'Beast Mode' after Salah scuffle

Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos has been warned he got “lucky” avoiding Adebayo Akinfenwa and the Liverpool fan’s ‘Beast Mode’ after his tussle with Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final.

The World Cup-winning defender has become public enemy number one in the eyes of Reds supporters following his antics during and after a continental clash in Kiev.

It was after tangling with Ramos that Salah was forced from the field in tears in the Ukrainian capital, with a shoulder injury robbing Jurgen Klopp of the services of a 44-goal talisman.

The Blancos captain also caught Loris Karius on the head during an eventful first-half, with it since revealed that the German goalkeeper suffered a concussion as a result of that coming together.

Ramos has hardly endeared himself to Liverpool followers since lifting another European Cup, with the Spain international offering a sarcastic response to the post-game fallout.

He has been the subject of a petition calling for action from football’s authorities, while an Egyptian lawyer went as far as filing a €1 billion lawsuit against the 32-year-old centre-half.

Ramos may have been able to laugh off the accusations being levelled against him, but he should probably consider himself fortunate to have avoided running into Akinfenwa.

The FIFA cult hero, who is renowned for his brute strength, has suggested that he would have dealt with Ramos in an altogether different manner in a video posted on his social media accounts titled “Don’t worry Liverpool FC I will always have your back. #WeInThisTogether #SometimesYouHave2Smile #BeastMode.”

Akinfenwa says in the video: “So it's been a week since the Champions League final and I've just got back from holiday.

“Sergio Ramos, not only did you take out my man Mo Salah, but now I'm hearing you put Karius in concussion.

“Look brother, I'm never going to play against you because I'm never going to make it to the Champions League, but you're lucky.”

Ramos has further incurred the wrath of Liverpool supporters with his response to discovering that he had left Karius concussed.

He said: "Damn, they've given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing.

"I didn't want to speak because everything is magnified. I see the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold.

"After the goalkeeper said that I dazed him with a clash. I am only missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him."
