AFC Champions League 2018: Group Stage Matchday Two Preview: East Zone

After some scintillating matches on Matchday One, we are all set for another week of exciting action in the East Zone...

Matchday Two of the the AFC Champions League 2018 is all set to start on Tuesday in the East Zone. Here is a look at what awaits us this week: 


Kashiwa Reysol (JPN) v Tianjin Quanjian (CHN):

Kashiwa Reysol's first home game of the season sees them take on China's Tianjin Quanjian on Tuesday. The Japanese side fell to a 3-2 defeat against Jeonbuk Hyundai in the opening weekend and face a tough task against the Chinese side who are in form and coming off a win in their opening game of the group.

Kitchee SC (HKG) v Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (KOR):

Kitchee SC are hosting their first ever AFC Champions League game on Tuesday as Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors come calling. The team from Hong Kong were beaten convincingly by Tianjin Quanjian in the opening matchday. Jeonbuk will be looking to take control of the group by living up to their favourites tag.

Ulsan Hyundai (KOR) v Kawasaki Frontale (JPN): 

South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai are up against Japan's Kawasaki Frontale on Matchday Two in Group F. The South Korean team played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against Melbourne Victory in the previous game and will be looking to pick their first win. Kawasaki, meanwhile, are without a point and will need a positive result if they do not want to end up playing catch-up.

Shanghai SIPG (CHN) v Melbourne Victory (AUS):

Chinese side Shanghai SIPG host A-League side Melbourne Victory on Tuesday, looking to add to their opening matchday win over Kawasaki Frontale. Shanghai SIPG have one of the finest frontlines in the tourament and Melbourne Victory would need to do exceptionally well if they are to keep a cleansheet.

Cerezo Osaka (JPN) v Guangzhou Evergrande (CHN):

Japan's Cerezo Osaka will be in a buoyant mood when they host China's Guangzhou Evergrande on Wednesday in an intriguing AFC Champions League clash. After a stoppage-time equaliser gave them a point in the opening game, they will look to notch a win in what is their first home game on the continent since 2014.

Buriram United (THA) v Jeju United (KOR):

Buriram United hosts Korean side Jeju United in the second game of the group this week. The Thai side gained an excellent point on matchday one, after a battling 1-1 draw with Guangzhou Evergrande and will be hopeful of downing Jeju United who lost their game last week and are propping up the table.

Suwon Bluewings (KOR) v Kashima Antlers (JPN):

Suwon Bluewings welcome Kashima Antlers on Wednesday in an exciting AFC Champions League clash. After a 2-0 win against Sydney FC last week, they will be looking to take control of the group against Kashima Antlers. The Japanese side played out a 1-1 draw and will be hopeful of a positive result.

Shanghai Shenhua (CHN) v Sydney FC (AUS): 

Having gained a draw in the opening week, China's Shanghai Shenhua will be looking to open their home campaign with a win when they host A-League side Sydney FC on Wednesday. The Australians were outclassed last week and need a positive result or find themselves propping up the table.
