Commentary

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed following what was an Olivier Giroud masterclass. Until next time, stay safe!
The result means Chelsea will top Group E in style while Sevilla will have to settle for second. Up next for the Spanish side is the visit of Real Madrid in the league. There’s never an easy time to play Los Blancos, but with just one point from their last three games, there could be an opportunity for Sevilla to cash in. Then it’s back to Champions League action as they travel to Rennes for the final round of group games. For Chelsea, they welcome Leeds to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League, and Krasnodar the following Tuesday in their last Group E fixture.
Chelsea cruise to victory thanks to a four-goal haul from Giroud. The Frenchman's eighth-minute strike was the difference at the break before he doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second half with a delightful chip over Pastor. A 74th-minute header sealed the perfect hat-trick and, just to top things off, the striker won and scored a penalty in the 83rd minute to put the finishing touches on what was a dominant display.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: SEVILLA 0-4 CHELSEA
Joan Jordán
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Jordan makes it eight yellow cards for the game.
H. Ziyech
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Ziyech is also needlessly booked in the aftermath!
M. Mount
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Mount feels the need to push Jordan and earns a booking for his trouble.
90' + 1' There will be three minutes of added time.
90' Olivier Giroud is the first Chelsea player to score four goals in a game since Frank Lampard in March 2010 vs Aston Villa.
89' Ocampos and Kounde link up on the right before Gilmour steals possession away and Chelsea break.
87' No penalty! It took a while but the right decision is made.
86' The game is stopped as the referee goes to the monitor to review a potential Chelsea penalty incident.
B. Gilmour
Jorginho
85' And we do get to a glimpse of Gilmour. He is on for Jorginho for the final five minutes.
T. Werner
O. Giroud
84' It's Giroud's last act of the game as he is replaced by Werner.
O. Giroud
Penalty Goal
83' GOAL! FOUR FOR GIROUD AND CHELSEA! He won the spot-kick and made no mistake in scoring. A sweet strike into the top-right corner gave Pastor no chance. Giroud's been unplayable here and Chelsea's lead is now four.
Sergi Gómez
Yellow Card
82' Gomez is booked for a late challenge on Ziyech.
82' PENALTY CHELSEA! Gomez drags Giroud down as the striker attempts to get on the end of Azpilicueta's cross.
82' Sevilla continue to probe but there's still no cutting edge to their play.
81' A throughball almost finds Munir but Rudiger is on hand to nip in first.
79' With the game all but over, it would be great to see Gilmour get a 10-minute runout here.
78' Kounde makes a good run beyond Ocampos and is found in space. But, as has been the case all game, the Chelsea players are quick to surround their opponent and win the ball back.
77' Olivier Giroud is the oldest player to score a Champions League hat-trick (34 years 63 days). A perfect hat-trick at that!
Óliver Torres
I. Rakitić
75' Torres replaces Rakitic for the final 15 minutes.
N. Kanté
Assist
74' It was a perfectly weighted delivery from Kante that set up his contryman.
O. Giroud
Goal
74' GOAL! GIROUD BAGS HIS HAT-TRICK! Straight up the other end and it's a typical Giroud goal. The Frenchman gets between Carlos and Gomez and guides Kante's cross past Pastor who had no chance. 3-0!
73' Munir is over it and opts to cross, I think. It's massively overhit and out for a Chelsea goal-kick.
72' Munir and Jordan link up well before Emerson concedes a free-kick.
71' Sevilla attack and the ball almost falls kindly for En-Nesyri to strike, but Mendy is out quickly.
69' CHANCE! Mount has a golden opportunity to make it three moments after coming on. Carlos' ball out is pounced upon by Jorginho who puts it on a plate for Mount. The Englishman just has the keeper to beat but can't make the desired contact and Pastor saves well.
N. Kanté
K. Havertz
67' It's three changes for Lampard as Havertz is replaced by Kante.
M. Mount
C. Pulisic
67' Pulisic also makes way as Mount comes on.
H. Ziyech
M. Kovačić
67' And Lampard feels it's time to turn to the bench. Ziyech will get some minutes as he replaces Kovacic.
Munir
F. Vázquez
66' Vazquez is the next player to make way for Sevilla. He is replaced by El Haddadi.
65' BLOCK! Emerson gets down the left and cuts it back for Pulisic. The American lets it come across his body before firing a shot on goal that is deflected out for another corner.
64' Sevilla are committing plenty of men forward as they go in search of a route back into this game, but their play is a little predictable.
63' Havertz fancies getting in on the action and unleashes a shot from outside the area, but Carlos does well to get his body in the way.
61' A lovely one-two between Pulisic and Giroud earns the visitors a corner. Their tails are up. Can they get a third?
Joan Jordán
Óscar Rodríguez
60' Oscar also makes way for Jordan.
L. Ocampos
O. Idrissi
59' In the final change, Ocampos replaces Idrissi.
J. Koundé
Navas
59' First change of personnel for the hosts. Navas is replaced by Kounde.
57' SHOT! Hudson-Odoi cuts in from the right flank and shifts the ball onto his left foot before firing a shot just over the bar.
56' The goal didn't necessarily come against the run of play, but the hosts had looked the better side coming out from the break.
M. Kovačić
Assist
54' It wasn't the most glamorous assist, but they all count!
O. Giroud
Goal
54' GOAL! WHAT A FINISH FROM GIROUD! Jorginho does brilliantly to evade his marker before playing a throughball into Kovacic. The Croatian then feeds Giroud who outmuscles Gomez before chipping it exquisitely over Pastor in the Sevilla goal. 2-0 Chelsea!
52' Certainly not the fireworks we had earlier to begin the second half. Although, as I say that, Navas takes on Emerson and delivers a teasing cross into the Chelsea area, but Mendy is able to catch.
51' Hudson-Odoi attempts to pick out Giroud in the middle but it's well defenced by the home side. The Blues come again before Sevilla snatch possession and win a free-kick in the middle of the park.
49' SHOT! Oscar and Navas link up on the right before the latter plays a lovely ball into Gudelj. The ball drops nicely for the midfielder to volley and his thunderous effort flashes just over Mendy's bar.
47' Giroud feels he was clipped by Gudelj right at the beginning of the half and continues to speak to the referee about it.
47' Olivier Giroud has scored 13 goals for Chelsea in major European competition since the start of the 2018-19 campaign, the most of any player for an English side in this period. Clinical.
46' We're back underway for the second half.
As it stands, Chelsea will finish top of Group E, but this game is far from over. Despite going in at the break behind, Lopetegui will have seen enough from his side to know they're more than capable of turning the game in their favour. Plus, when is a game ever safe at 1-0? All to play for in the second period.
The teams are separated at the break by Giroud's early goal. The away side made a rapid start and were rewarded for their early dominance in the eighth minute. Havertz broke forward at pace before teeing up the Frenchman who cut inside and fired into the far corner. There were half-chances for both sides as the game wore on but neither keeper was really troubled.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: SEVILLA 0-1 CHELSEA
45' + 1' There will be one minute of added time.
45' Idrissi does very well to keep possession and passes out to Navas. His big switch of play is gathered by Rekik who feeds it into the path of Rakitic for another wayward strike on goal.
C. Pulisic
Yellow Card
43' Pulisic's heavy touch allows Oscar to steal the ball away. The American lunges in to try and make up for his mistake but catches the player and is rightly booked.
O. Idrissi
Yellow Card
41' Vazquez has a header on goal blocked before Havertz breaks with speed. Idrissi blocks the German from going any further and is booked as a result.
40' Navas advances from the full-back position before finding Oscar in space near the Chelsea byline. His cut-back falls for Rakitic who has another effort on goal blocked.
39' A quick VAR check is complete and determines there was no foul play.
38' The resultant free-kick is lined up by Rakitic. The Croatian strikes well but the wall does its job before Sevilla claim the ball has struck Emerson's hand on the follow-up.
M. Kovačić
Yellow Card
37' Oscar is sizing up a shot from just outside the area and, recognising the danger, Kovacic hauls his man down.
35' Sevilla attempt to breach the Chelsea defence on the right-hand side to no avail. They work the ball back into defence before it's back in the keeper's hands.
33' Kovacic has the ball at his feet and approaches the last line of the Sevilla defence at speed. He has Giroud on his left but going for goal is the better option. His shot is struck well but is deflected out for a goal-kick.
31' Giroud has the ball in an advanced position and feeds Emerson who has surged forward from his full-back position. He attempts to play a low cross into the front post, but nobody anticipates and Pastor can gather comfortably.
30' Oscar and Kovacic come together awkwardly. The home side appeal for a free-kick but the referee sensibly gives nothing.
29' Pulisic has another two chances. He wastes the first one before having a shot deflected out for another corner.
27' SAVE! Pulisic breaks forward from a scrappy spell of play. The American is looking for an attractive option but in the end chooses to go himself and draws a solid save from Pastor.
27' From the resultant corner, Rudiger rises highest and his header looks destined for the goal before Vazquez makes a brilliant clearance.
25' Havertz is momentarily down after an aerial clash with Carlos. It was aggressive, but shouldn't warrant any further action.
24' Rakitic is floating in space and is found by Navas. The Croatian's first touch is brilliant and he can turn his attention to goal. He feeds Idrissi who has space and time to shoot, but drags his effort wide.
23' The Blues made a quick start to the game but the last five minutes or so have been dominated by the home side.
22' Oscar whips the ball in and Vazquez gets on the end of it this time, but his header is tame and easily gathered by Mendy.
21' Azpilicueta stumbles over the ball and Oscar steals in to earn another free-kick for Sevilla.
19' The ball in is brilliant and Oscar gets on the end of it before the Sevilla players are screaming for a handball. Rekik reacts quickest to the loose ball and pokes an effort towards goal but Mendy saves well.
18' Adrissi leaves the ball for Gudelj on the left. He finds En-Nesyri who goes down very easily under contact but the referee buys it and blows for a free-kick.
17' Sevilla are being allowed possession in their own half but are being pressed as soon as they cross the halfway line. The Spanish side are finding it difficult to make inroads into an organised Chelsea side.
N. Gudelj
Yellow Card
15' Havertz has space to break but is dragged back by Gudelj who earns a yellow for the foul.
13' The home side enjoy their first meaningful spell of possession. Idrissi feeds the ball into Rekik who is on the overlap before the Dutchman fires a dangerous cross into the Chelsea area.
12' Chelsea's strength in depth is really on show here. Havertz, Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi have all made bright starts to this game for the Blues.
10' Olivier Giroud has scored seven goals in his last seven away starts in the Champions League.
K. Havertz
Assist
8' It was a quick burst from the German that stretched the Sevilla defence before giving it to Giroud to do the rest.
O. Giroud
Goal
8' GOAL! CHELSEA LEAD 1-0! It all comes from a Sevilla attack. Chelsea intercept and Havertz breaks forward. He finds Giroud in the box who cuts inside before picking out the far corner with a clinical finish.
6' Oscar tries to find Idrissi but Havertz intercepts. Chelsea break forward and Azpilicueta finds Hudson-Odoi in space on the right. He cuts it back to Giroud before the Frenchman tees up Pulisic who fires just wide.
4' The corner comes to nothing and Sevilla get on the ball briefly as Oscar tries to counter-attack down the left wing.
3' Chelsea have started the brighter here. In particular, they are passing it around nicely on the right-hand side. They've won the first corner of the game.
1' The new goalkeeper is tested early as Havertz whips a ball in from the right flank.
1' Referee Artur Manuel Soares Dias blows his whistle and we’re underway at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
There is a last-minute change in goal for Sevilla with Tomas Vaclik dropping to the bench and Alfonso Pastor starting in his place.
The players are emerging from the tunnel with kick-off mere moments away.
As mentioned, Sevilla and Chelsea have both already qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 this season, with the winner of this match qualifying as group winners. Sevilla haven’t topped their Champions League group since 2009-10, while Chelsea last did so in 2015-16.
And not to be outdone, Lampard has made nine changes from the draw with Tottenham. Only Edouard Mendy and Mateo Kovacic keep their places while Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic – both of whom could do with some minutes – start in midfield. Olivier Giroud is preferred up front after his late winner against Rennes last week.
Both managers have rung the changes for this one. First up, it’s seven for Sevilla from the team sent out to face Huesca. At the back Sergi Gomez comes in for Jules Kounde while the front six have all been rotated. Ivan Rakitic returns to the starting XI beside Nemanja Gudelj and Oscar Rodriguez, and up front, Luuk de Jong drops to the bench. Instead, Lopetegui has put his trust in Franco Vazquez, Youssef En-Nesyri and Oussama Idrissi to cause Chelsea problems going forward.
CHELSEA SUBS: Timo Werner, Reece James, Billy Gilmour, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, N'Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso, Hakim Ziyech, Willy Caballero, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Kepa Arrizabalaga.
CHELSEA (4-2-3-1): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Emerson; Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho; Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic; Olivier Giroud.
SEVILLA SUBS: Luuk de Jong, Munir El Haddadi, Joan Jordan, Lucas Ocampos, Tomas Vaclik, Antonio Zarzana, Adrian Gonzalez, Oliver Torres, Fernando, Jules Kounde.
SEVILLA (4-3-3): Alfonso Pastor; Jesus Navas, Sergi Gomez, Diego Carlos, Karim Rekik; Ivan Rakitic, Nemanja Gudelj, Oscar Rodriguez; Franco Vazquez, Youssef En-Nesyri, Oussama Idrissi.
Their opponents are on their own rich vein of form. Unbeaten in 11, the Blues required Olivier Giroud’s late effort to secure the three points against Rennes, before a goalless draw with Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham snapped their run of six straight victories. Still, Frank Lampard will be delighted to see his team sitting third in the Premier League with progression from the Champions League group stages secured.
Both sides come into this one tied on 10 points and with a place in the knockout stages secured, so attention now turns to topping the group. And there can be no complaints from either about a lack of form. Although the hosts needed a 95th-minute winner to defeat Krasnodar in their last Champions League outing, they extended their winning streak to five games with a 1-0 La Liga triumph away to Huesca at the weekend.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League Group E meeting between Sevilla and Chelsea.
