The emotional tribute was part of a larger ceremony celebrating Sauerbrunn's announced retirement from professional soccer.

"I just wanted to congratulate you on your career," Henry said. "What else to say? Two hundred-plus caps for the national team. Captain of the national team. Winning two World Cups....It's just outstanding...You've been a role model, and an example."

Henry also praised the center back for her love of the Gunners.

"And you're an Arsenal fan, what's not to like," Henry said with a smile. "From one Gooner to another, well done."

Sauerbrunn's retirement in December 2024 marked the end of an era for the USWNT, as she represented one of the last active players from the team's 2015 World Cup championship. Her international career spans 219 caps, two World Cup titles (2015, 2019), an Olympic gold medal (2012), and countless club achievements with FC Kansas City, Utah Royals, and the Portland Thorns.
