HOW MANY TEAMS GO UP TO LEAGUE ONE?

Stockport and Wrexham have already secured promotion from League Two and Mansfield currently occupy the third, and final, automatic promotion spot. The sides who finish in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh will then duke it out to try and win the final promotion spot in a play-off final a couple of weeks after the regular season ends.

  • CAN WREXHAM STILL WIN THE TITLE?

Yes. However, the league title is out of their hands as top of the table Stockport are four points ahead of Phil Parkinson's men and they have a game in hand. The maximum amount of points Wrexham can finish the season with is 88, so Stockport need just three points to ensure the title is theirs.

One win for Stockport makes deciding the title simple, as does three draws.

Stockport must suffer at least one draw and one loss in their games against Notts County and Accrington Stanley AND Wrexham must beat Crewe in order for the Red Dragons to have a chance of winning the title outright.

If Stockport draw both games, Wrexham can win the title if they beat the league leaders on the final day and overhaul their superior goal difference in the remaining games - currently +11 clear.

However, as the sides are playing each other, Stockport can lose both of their next two games and still win the title if they draw at Wrexham - so long as third-placed Mansfield do not win all their games.

Mansfield have a game in hand, a +8 goal difference and are three points behind Wrexham. So if they win their three remaining games, and maintain their goal difference advantage, they will finish above the Welsh outfit.

In order to finish above Stockport, Mansfield must must win all three games AND hope Stockport suffer at least two losses and one draw. They can also win the title with two wins and a draw if Stockport lose all three games AND Wrexham do not beat Crewe AND do not boast a better goal difference.

WHO COULD THEY FACE NEXT SEASON?

Next season, Wrexham will face sides such who have been in the Premier League this century, including Reading, Charlton and Wigan. The League One promotion picture is not yet clear but Rotherham have already been relegated from the Championship and will spend next season in the English third-tier.
