'This is what we expect' - Mykhailo Mudryk sent Chelsea starting spot warning by Mauricio Pochettino after stepping off bench to score sublime solo goal against Newcastle

Chelsea got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Monday as they narrowly edged out Newcastle United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge courtesy of goals from Nicholas Jackson, Cole Palmer and 'super sub' Mudryk. The Ukrainian attacker scored the team's winning goal just five minutes after he came on as a substitute for Raheem Sterling.

After the match, manager Pochettino praised the youngster for scoring an excellent goal but also warned him that he needs to further improve if he wants to win a place in the Blues' starting lineup.

At his post-match press conference, the Argentine told reporters: "It was a very good goal and that is what we expect from a player from the bench - impact. Then it is about competing with different players in his position. Then he will deserve to (start)."

It was a much-needed win for Chelsea, who had managed to register three points only once in their last five Premier League games. The inspiring performance on Monday will go some way to relieving the negativity that has surrounded the club throughout the season.

Pochettino's side will now hope to secure an FA Cup semi-final berth as they take on Championship leaders Leicester City on Sunday.
