The Herons added eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi to their ranks in the summer of 2023, with a historic Leagues Cup triumph savoured within weeks of his arrival. The iconic Argentine has been joined in Florida by former Barcelona team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Veteran Uruguayan striker Suarez has now been added to that reunion tour, with Inter Miami making no secret of the fact that they intend to challenge on all fronts in the upcoming campaign. With four trophies up for grabs, the plan is to land multiple pieces of silverware.

Suarez’s presence will undoubtedly aid that cause, with the 36-year-old frontman still a prolific presence in the final third. He boasts an almost telepathic understanding with Messi, and the pair have wasted no time in getting reacquainted on the training field.

Inter Miami have a busy pre-season schedule lined up, with their first friendly date set to be taken in on Friday against El Salvador. Messi forms part of their travelling squad, but it is yet to be determined whether he will figure in upcoming contests against the likes of Vissel Kobe, Newell’s Old Boys and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
