    Adriano, who retired from professional football in 2016, returned to the pitch one last time as his first club Flamengo arranged a farewell match for the forward. The 42-year-old was joined by ex-Brazil stars Romario, Ze Roberto and Dida as 'Flamengo Legends' took on 'Friends of Italy'. At half-time, Flamengo arranged for a special surprise for Adriano as they played an AI-generated last message from his late father. The veteran forward could not control his emotions as he broke down in tears.

    Speaking to SporTV, Adriano said: "It's a shame he couldn't be here, but I know he's happy with everything I learned from him. For me, the most important thing is the affection my friends have for me. It's not so much because I'm a player, it's the affection and love that everyone has for me. It's in my heart and I'm very happy."

    Nowadays, Adriano spends his time back in his hometown of Vila Cruzeiro, where the former striker has admitted he "drinks to oblivion" alongside his friends in the favela. His father's untimely death in 2004 had a long-term impact on his career as Adriano was no longer the player he was projected to be at one point of time.
