  • Tyle Adams scores long-range GOLAZO
  • U.S. win 2-0
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

After being named to the starting XI in the Nations League final for the USMNT, Adams repaid Gregg Berhalter with a brilliant effort. Tim Weah found Weston McKennie in the corner, who then cut back and found Adams who hit the ball first time from nearly 30 yards out.

The powerful effort caught everyone by surprise, with Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa being stuck flat-footed watching the line drive effort blaze by him into the back of the net.

It ended up being the first of two goals, with Gio Reyna doubling their lead in the second half, seeing the U.S. claiming their third-straight CONCACAF Nations League title.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The strike was beyond brilliant, and a moment of true emotion for Adams, who has struggled to stay fit over the past 12 months after picking up a string of injuries.

With only two competitive appearances for Bournemouth since his mid-Summer transfer from Leeds United, he was a surprise inclusion in the USMNT roster for the CONCACAF Nations League... but Berhalter's trust in him seemingly paid off Sunday evening.

WHAT NEXT FOR ADAMS AND THE USMNT?

The U.S. will now look to this Summer's Copa America as their next chance to claim some silverware. Prior to it, though, are two incredibly important international friendlies in June against CONMEBOL opponents Colombia and Brazil.
