He was withdrawn with 12 minutes to go with an apparent leg issue, with the winger grimacing as he hobbled off past head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Vinicius is set for a starring role under Alonso, alongside Kylian Mbappe. The Brazilian may play in more of a striker role alongside the Frenchman, completing half of what would be one of the most dangerous attacking duos in the world.

The extent of Vinicius' injury still remains unknown, meaning Alonso may have to rely more on Rodrygo for the opening stages of the Club World Cup. He was left out of the most recent Brazil squad and will be ready to prove his worth under the new head coach.
