Bild, Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg all report that negotiations between Spurs and the Bavarian giants have reached an advanced stage, with a deal of £30 million (€35m) for the 20-year-old forward expected imminently.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The speed at which the deal has been negotiated is thanks in part to a permanent transfer being agreed as part of the initial loan, although reports had suggested the fee would be as high as £50m. Plettenberg suggests the newly-appointed Thomas Frank is a fan of the player. It will be the north London club's first signing under his reign.

WHAT NEXT FOR MATHYS TEL?
The highly-rated Frenchman will enjoy the opportunity of regular first-team football, as it appeared his career was stagnating in Bavaria. He still has work to do, to become first-choice, however. Spurs are chasing the services of Brian Mbeumo from Frank's former club Brentford, who will provide stiff competition alongside incumbent attacking stars like Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-Min Son and Dominic Solanke.
