  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Cates will quit Sky Sports at the end of the 2024-25 campaign to make a switch to BBC where she will be a part of a three-member team alongside broadcasters Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan to present their flagship Premier League highlights programme, Match of the Day. The three presenters will replace ex-England international celebrated pundit Gary Lineker, who announced that he would quit the programme at the end of this season, ending a 25-year association with the media group as their lead anchor.

    With Cates leaving the organisation, Sky Sports have reportedly identified her successor as they are set to appoint NBC's star presenter Rebecca Lowe, according to The Sun. Lowe, who formerly worked with BBC, is a highly regarded presenter and Sky remains confident that they will able to secure her services ahead of the new season.
