Sir Jim Ratcliffe banned from publicly criticising Glazer family as condition of Man Utd takeover deal

United confirmed on Christmas Eve that they have struck a deal that will see the British billionaire purchase a 25 percent stake in the club for a fee of £1.25 billion ($1.59bn). As part of the deal, Ratcliffe and the Glazer family have agreed not to criticise each other in public, The Times reports.

According to the British newspaper, a document has been submitted to the New York Stock Exchange which shows the finer details of the deal between Ratcliffe and United and it confirms that the two parties won't make statements which "constitute an ad hominem attack on, criticise, or otherwise disparage, the sellers [The Glazers], the company [United] or their respective affiliates.”

The documents also confirm that two members of Ratcliffe's company INEOS, Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc, will join the United board. Although the partial takeover has not yet been ratified by the Premier League, it has been reported that United will have to consult INEOS regarding any transfer business in the January window.

Ratcliffe's deal will have to be given the all clear from the Premier League as well as the club's Class A shareholders. Once the deal goes through, the Glazer family stand to make £715 million ($913m) from selling the shares to the British billionaire.
