Samu Omorodion offered to another Premier League club by Atletico Madrid after seeing Chelsea transfer fall through before Blues signed Joao Felix

According to the Daily Mail, the Rojiblancos have approached Aston Villa with an offer to sign Omorodion. The 20-year-old forward, recently on the brink of joining Chelsea, is now considered a potential addition to the Villa squad, should they decide to part ways with current striker Jhon Duran.

Duran, the 20-year-old Colombian striker currently at Aston Villa, could be pivotal in determining whether the club pursue Omorodion. Duran has been with Villa since January 2023, having joined from MLS side Chicago Fire for a fee in the region of £18 million ($24m). He has quickly made an impact, most recently scoring the winning goal in Villa's 2-1 victory over West Ham. His performances have caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, and a potential transfer could open the door for Omorodion to step in as his replacement.

Earlier this month, Omorodion was on the verge of joining Chelsea in a deal worth £34m ($45m). The transfer had been agreed upon by all parties, with the player even travelling to London. However, the move ultimately collapsed due to concerns raised during the player's medical. Omorodion had missed Spain's gold medal match at the Paris Olympics due to an injury, which reportedly played a significant role in the failed transfer. Chelsea’s medical team was not fully satisfied with the forward’s physical condition, leading to the deal being called off.

Signed by Atletico Madrid from Granada in August of last year, Omorodion spent the 2023-2024 season on loan at Alaves. During his time at the Liga club, he made 34 appearances, netting eight goals. With the transfer window set to close soon, Villa face a race against time to finalize any potential deals. If Duran indeed leaves, the signing of Omorodion could be crucial for Villa’s plans this season.
