Ex-Real Madrid star rules out La Liga return after rejecting Champions League offers and confirms he won't pursue coaching career because he's 'had enough' of football

Joselu moved to Qatar last year from Madrid after signing a two-year deal with Al-Gharafa. The Spaniard recently sat down for an interview where he was asked about a possible return to La Liga. Joselu expressed that he had no desire to make a return to Spain, as he was able to finish on a high note. He further added that he wants to quit football completely and not indulge in coaching after his retirement.

Joselu had a great debut season with Al-Gharafa, in which he scored 18 goals and registered three assists in 35 games, helping the team win the prestigious Emir of Qatar Cup. Joselu claims this year his focus is on the Asian Champions League. The goal for him is to "improve on last season" by staying "as high as possible in the league, qualify for the Champions League group stage and perform strongly in the cup." This further signals that the forward is fully focused on his life in Qatar. However, he seeks a reunion with Madrid prior to his retirement.

When asked about making a return to La Liga with Madrid in an interview with Marca, Joselu laughed and said: "Phew, it puts me in a difficult position. In principle, I rule out returning to Spain. And also, being a coach. I'll have had enough football when I retire. I had a career that many would envy. I've enjoyed it immensely, and I was able to finish on a high note at the European level. This summer I had offers from Spanish and European Champions League clubs, and further down the league, to play there again, but no: my family and I are fine in Qatar. Leaving Madrid was the hardest moment of my entire career, because I was leaving behind a childhood dream."

The 35-year-old is focused on his journey in Qatar. However, he has plans following his retirement, the former Madrid striker hopes that he can return to Santiago Bernabeu and have a small tribute held, making it a special moment for him and ending it on a beautiful note with the club that he keeps close to his heart.
