Phil Parkinson prevents Wrexham from 'haemorrhaging cash' under Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney, claims ex-Red Dragons goalkeeper Ben Foster

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been happy to splash the cash at the Welsh club since arriving in 2021. Their investments have paid off too, as Wrexham have risen from the Nations League into League One and are currently aiming to secure another promotion and a place in the Championship for next season. Wrexham currently sit in second place in the table, level on points with leaders Wycombe, who do have a game in hand.

Wrexham have signed 47 players under Reynolds and McElhenney's ownership and spent nearly £6.2 million ($7.8m) in transfer fees. Foster was one player to arrive, on a free transfer after coming out of retirement, and says that manager Parkinson deserves credit for the club's recruitment policy and for not allowing their superstar owners to let their spending become out of control.

Foster told Will Brazier in an interview on YouTube: "Phil Parkinson is the guy that has the say so on everything, with players in, players out, new contracts, and even when it comes to media duties. He wants to know what's going on. He doesn't let players get too excited or too ahead of themselves. He takes it each game as it comes, but I love the way that they give him all that power. When you've got two massive A-list Hollywood stars running the football club, money could become a massive problem, and you could be haemorrhaging cash all over the place, but he makes sure it doesn't happen. He's very calm, very considered and he finds out about every single player that he's signing. He makes sure that they're a really good human being, first and foremost, and there's not many football clubs that do that. The manager nowadays is a coach, and they just get the players that the big dogs have brought in, and they have to work with them. But Phil Parkinson still maintains that he is the guy that brings every single player in.”

Wrexham's most recent addition is goalkeeper Brad Foster, who has arrived as short-term cover after Arthur Okonkwo and Callum Burton were ruled out through injury. The Red Dragons are expected to spend again in the January transfer window and have been tipped to bring in a new striker to help boost their promotion push.
