Former City striker Aguero believes that when Guardiola does finally leave the defending Premier League champions, Arsenal manager Arteta would be "qualified" to succeed him.

WHAT AGUERO SAID
He told Stake.com: "Pep has extended his contract and Arteta has been doing a brilliant job at Arsenal. The point is moot right now, but if what you’re looking for a is forward-thinking answer and whether Arteta could be a good manager for City – I’d say he’s qualified for the task."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Guardiola ended speculation about his City future late last year when he signed a new deal until the summer of 2027, and Arteta's Arsenal contract also runs until then. The Spaniard worked under the former Barcelona boss at City before heading to the Gunners for his first stint in management, so it does make sense that he heads to the Etihad one day. But Guardiola will be a very hard act to follow.

WHAT NEXT?
Arteta's stock will be a lot higher if he is able to lead the club to Champions League glory this season. If he fails to win trophies in the coming years, though, his time at the Gunners could be over.
