This game marked Yildiz’s sixth European appearance, and his impact has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Earlier in the group stage, Yildiz made headlines by scoring the opening goal in Juventus' 3-1 victory over PSV, which was also his European debut. At just 19 years old, he became the youngest player to score in Juventus’ illustrious history, breaking a record previously held by club legend Alessandro Del Piero.

Manchester United hero Scholes took to Instagram to express his admiration for the rising Juventus star. Sharing his thoughts on his story, he posted a clapping emoji followed by the words, "Who the f*ck is this Yildiz."

Ahead of the match, Yildiz spoke about his aspirations to reporters and said: "It’s a dream come true. It’s a big game for me, so I will give my best for the team. As I said before, I hope it will be good. Man City is a great team. Two years ago, they won the Champions League. If I have to pick a role model, it’s probably (Erling) Haaland, but it’s an honour to play against them."

The defeat to Juventus leaves City in 22nd place out of the 36 teams competing in the Champions League’s new format. With just two group stage matches remaining, City’s path to the knockout stages is far from secure. Their next challenge will be an away fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, followed by a home game against Club Brugge at the Etihad Stadium in January 2025.
