Orlando City SC reportedly agree to record transfer of star DP Facundo Torres to Brazilian Serie A giants Palmeiras

Facundo Torres has been a star for Orlando City SC since his arrival in 2022, delivering 37 goals and 20 assists in MLS play. However, his time in Florida appears to be nearing its end. Orlando has reportedly accepted a transfer offer from Brazilian giants Palmeiras for their designated player, with the fee rumored to surpass the $9.5 million received for Daryl Dike.

Palmeiras, who finished second in Brazil's Serie A in 2024, are bolstering their squad for a busy 2025 campaign. The addition of Torres is expected to strengthen their pursuit of multiple trophies, including the high-profile FIFA Club World Cup next summer.

Torres's rumored departure could have a major impact on Orlando City SC, especially if the club doesn't retool effectively. Since joining in 2022, the 24-year-old has been instrumental in the team’s playoff progress, culminating in a standout 2024 campaign. Torres delivered 14 goals and six assists this season, helping Orlando reach the Conference Final for the first time in franchise history.

With a relatively deep forward corps that includes Duncan McGuire, Ramiro Enrique, and Luis Muriel, Orlando might use the potential transfer fee to address other areas of the squad.

Torres' .39 goals per game during his time with Orlando is the third-highest in franchise history with only former stars Cyle Larin and Dike ahead of him at .49 and .46 respectively.

Orlando will likely be focused on the upcoming MLS SuperDraft, set for Dec. 19.
