The Harambee Stars defender won the Kenyan Premier League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the 2018/19 season. He was outstanding at the back as Gor Mahia won their record 18th league title.
His efforts saw him earn a maiden Kenya call up, featured against Ghana in an Afcon qualifier in Nairobi and since then has been a regular member of&nbsp;Francis Kimanzi's side.

Since joining Simba, he has helped them keep two clean sheets - against Vital’ O of Burundi where they won 6-0 and a 2-0 win against Namungo FC in the Shield Cup meeting.

A serious early contender for the award many will agree, but it is now upon the former Western Stima star to replicate previous stellar performances at his new home.

Joash Onyango - Simba SC

The former Orlando Pirates winger has shown what he can do on the pitch since his arrival early in the year.
He had some good moments with Yanga SC, especially when he helped them down Simba 1-0 on March 8 with an outrageous, brilliantly taken free-kick. Although he left for Wekundu wa Msimbazi in August, he has continued to show he is a thorn in the flesh of defenders.

The Ghanaian has been on the scoresheet twice - when Simba defeated Vital’O of Burundi during&nbsp;Simba Day - which was his maiden goal - and during the Community Shield&nbsp;in Arusha.

Being at Simba, the treble winners of the previous season, should give him a stable platform to compete for the end of the season award.

Bernard Morrison - Simba SC

The holder of the award cannot be underrated at this point as he has proved his form has not dropped since taking a short break before the next season begins.
The Zambian has proved to be a key figure for the Sven Vandenbroeck-led team. Over time since signing for Simba, Chama has always done his talk on the pitch.

As Simba lifted the Community Shield, his efforts against Namungo cannot be underrated. His run, twists and eventually assisting in the creation of Morrison goal is testament enough he is ready to up his game when the season starts.

He knows the pressure that comes with being the award holder and surely knows he has to outperform his previous exploits.

Clatous Chama - Simba SC

The Ugandan star was voted as the defender of the 2019/20 season after seeing off close challengers Bakari Mwamnyeto of Coastal Union, now at Yanga, and David Luhende of Kagera Sugar.
The club has been stable at the back and the former Vipers SC’s man has been pivotal in ensuring that persists. Although Azam won no title and surrendered the second place late on,&nbsp;Wadada's personal brilliance was there to be seen.

Azam’s achievement of keeping the second-best record of fewest goals conceded last season would surely have not been achieved had Wadada not been part of the team.

Should he keep the form, Chama and others should watch over their shoulders with worry in the next campaign.

Nicholas Wadada - Azam FC

It is a new challenge for the 23-year-old Zimbabwean international after signing for Azam from Highlanders FC in August.
At his previous club, Dube became Zimbabwe’s 2019 Soccer Star of the Year second runners-up after he regained his form at the 2006 league champions, testament enough he might come and conquer the Tanzanian competition.

The Young Warriors captain should feel at home and ready to deliver as he enjoys the comfort of being close to his international counterparts Never Tigere and Bruce Kangwa.

Although he had unsuccessful stints in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) of South Africa as he turned out for SuperSport United and Black Leopards, he might find his scoring touch easily at Azam.

The age might give him an added advantage in the MVP race.
