MSN reunited?! Inter Miami eye sensational swoop to sign Neymar and revive fabled Barcelona trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez

  • Inter Miami want famous trio back together

The MLS side have already brought three of Lionel Messi’s former Barcelona team-mates to Florida in Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Yet, with the latter pair set to depart at the end of the season, the club owned by David Beckham will now be looking to revitalise the squad – with Messi still at the core. With the Argentinian and Suarez looking like they will remain at the club, the Herons will be desperate to add another superstar to their frontline, and who better than Neymar.

The Daily Mail report that the Brazilian could join the MLS side as early as January, once his deal with Santos ends, and may fancy once again taking up that vacant spot on the left of his close friends. Should he opt to make that move, he will take his place on the field ahead of Sergio Reguilon, who looks set to complete a transfer to the club to replace Alba. The former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur full-back will bring heaps of experience at the top echelons of European football and will be hopeful of rebuilding his stuttering career alongside some of football’s greatest ever players.

Like Reguilon, Neymar will be desperate to get his career back on track. Ever since making his disastrous switch to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Neymar has struggled for form and fitness, costing him his place in the national team and ousting him from the thoughts of Carlo Ancelotti. A switch to Miami and back with Messi and Suarez could prove to be the spark Neymar needs to get back into his groove.

    Homecoming falls flat

Neymar’s return to Santos was supposed to be the transfer which reignited the magic in the forward’s tiring legs. Arriving with a fanfare back in Sao Paulo, Brazil’s highest ever goalscorer was meant to set the league alight, just as he had done as a teenager. Yet, things have not worked out quite as well as planned and the club is dangling close to the relegation zone in Serie A.

The dream homecoming has turned into a nightmare and the forward has entered into a back-and-forth with journalists over his conduct on and off the field. As the injuries, and scrutiny, continue to plague Neymar, yet another fresh start may be needed.

  • Three golden years of MSN

Messi, Saurez and Neymar, the devastating MSN forward line, are widely considered one of the best attacks in footballing history. The South Americans were unstoppable at times in the red and blue of Barcelona and were crucial in helping the Blaugrana lift a famous treble in 2014/15.

In the three years the three played together, they won two La Liga titles, three consecutive Copa del Reys, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one Club World Cup. Alongside these accolades, they combined for a staggering 364 goals and 174 assists to write their names into the history books at the club.

Should Messi, Suarez and Neymar be brought together once again for Inter Miami, Beckham will no doubt be dreaming of his franchise sweeping up as many of the trophies available to the MLS club. If the forwards were able to manage even a fraction of their numbers put up at Barcelona they will have a strong chance of doing just that.

Countdown to the World Cup ticks on

The 2026 World Cup will no doubt be at the forefront of Neymar’s mind when it comes to selecting his next club. The tournament, set to be held in the US, Canada and Mexico, will be just six months away when Neymar’s deal at Santos expires and he could believe that playing football regularly in one of the host nation’s domestic leagues will get him back into the mind of the Brazilian head coach.

Ancelotti has so far kept Neymar out of his squads, despite the clamour from some of the country’s most legendary footballing figures, and will need some persuading to find a place on the plane next summer. With the likes of Raphinha, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo. Matheus Cunha, Gabriel Martinelli, Richarlison and Estevao playing regularly at the highest level, it may be difficult for the 33-year-old to break in. Neymar’s future hangs in the balance, but a move to Miami could offer a chance to once again find the dazzling player he was.
