    Goal lists the most prolific African players who played in the Premier League, after Mohamed Salah added to his tally this week.

    The Ivorian was snapped up by then-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in 2004 from Ligue 1 heavyweights Marseille. He went on to be a key player for the Portuguese coach as the Blues dominated the Premier League. In the first stint, 2004-2012, the striker netted 100 goals in 226 matches. His second stint was in the 2014/15 season when he scored four goals in 28 appearances to take his tally to 104. He remains the top scorer from Africa in the English top flight.
  • Nicklas Bendtner Emmanuel Adebayor Arsenal

    The now 37-year-old striker played for four different teams in England and scored 97 goals. His journey began in North London where he signed for Arsenal in 2006 from Monaco. He scored 46 goals in 104 appearances before making a controversial switch to Manchester City. Adebayor scored 15 goals in 35 games for the Citizens. He played for Tottenham Hotspur and in the two stints, he managed 35 goals from 92 matches. His last goal came while at Crystal Palace.

    The Egypt captain scored in a 4-2 win over Manchester United on Thursday to take his tally for English teams to 96. His first stint was in 2014-2016 with Chelsea. But in 13 appearances, he scored just two goals. However, he has had a stellar career at Liverpool and so far, he has managed to score 94 goals in 142 games for the Reds in league matches since 2017.

    ​Yakubu Ayegbeni

    The former Nigeria international played for four teams in the England top flight, and scored a total of 95 goals. He had two stints with Portsmouth where he scored 28 goals in Premier League. Later on, he scored 25 goals each for Middlesbrough and Everton. He later on finished his career in the English top tier with 17 goals for Blackburn Rovers.
  • Sadio Mane Liverpool Real Madrid Champions League 2020-21

    Fifth on this list is another Liverpool star, Mane. The Senegal international has been plying his trade on English soil since 2014. He started at Southampton where he scored 21 goals in 67 appearances. He then made a move to the Reds in 2016 and to date, he has scored 72 goals in 158 games. Most probably, he will score more as long as he remains in England.
  • Riyad Mahrez, PSG vs Man City

    Riyad Mahrez

    Like Mane, the Algerian has been in England since 2014. He began at Leicester City where he played 158 matches and scored 42 goals. In 2018, he opted to join the newly crowned champions Manchester City. He has managed to score 27 goals in the 85 matches he has so far played for Pep Guardiola's side.
