  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Salah has been the epitome of consistency since joining the Reds, and his performances this season have only strengthened his reputation as one of the world’s finest forwards. The Egyptian talisman has already racked up an impressive 16 goals and 12 assists in just 22 appearances this campaign and he knows his output makes him the best player for the Reds. However, the manner in which he rubbed it in Elliott's face did not go down well with fans.

    WHAT SALAH SAID

The moment in question occurred during a light-hearted discussion between Salah, Elliott, and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. They were looking at footage from a Champions League match where Salah set up Elliott with a defence-splitting through ball. However, the goalscorer did not know it was Salah who provided the assist.

Salah, adamant that he was the provider, humourously claimed: “Look who passes the ball to him. Look, easy. Football is easy."

When Salah asked Elliott why he didn't come to him after the pass, Elliott replied that he couldn't see who provided the assist.

Salah then went on to boast: "Yeah, but there is nobody in the team who has the ability to pass the ball like this. So it must be me. Someone looking there and passing the ball here. It must be me."

  • WHAT ARE THE FANS SAYING?

While the exchange appeared to be in good spirits, some rival fans on social media took issue with Salah’s comments.

@juniior_LFC wrote: "He's more arrogant man 'no one in the team makes that pass besides me' is crazy."

@ArsenalMediaXI wrote: "'There's nobody in the team with the ability to pass the ball like that. So it must be me' - Meanwhile Trent was literally on the pitch. Even, just look at the chance for itself. Consider how well Elliott had to strike that ball to get that goal. Mental."

@covacoriginal wrote: "Mo, don't be this arrogant man."

@bob15731653 wrote: "That's not a good look from Salah. I know at the end he played it as a joke but that's just not something you say out loud."

However, @vk_kingpin, differed from the rest and wrote: "Loving this new confident outspoken Mohamed Salah. It’s like he’s realised he needs to be open and out there to get the recognition he deserves. Best player in the world this season."

@El8Musico wrote: "One day people will realise what they deem as 'arrogance' (supreme confidence) is a trait of greatness, you don’t reach those levels without it."

And @PringJames21 added: "I've said it before and I'll say it again, this new extremely arrogant Mo we seem to be getting this season is just brilliant, Long may it continue."

The forward was recently crowned the Premier League Player of the Month for November after playing a crucial role in Liverpool’s three wins during the period.
