The Chelsea defender was at fault and drew comparisons to Steven Gerrard after he slipped, allowing Brennan Johnson to carry the ball away down the line and cross for Dominic Solanke to open the scoring. He then lost his footing again to allow Dejan Kulusevski to double the home side's advantage. The Spanish defender will be relieved his mistakes were not too costly for the Blues and he could make a joke about it all afterwards.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Cucurella is lucky that Chelsea, with help from a Cole Palmer brace, did enough to overturn their poor start and move closer to league leaders Liverpool. The Blues also overtook Arsenal who stumbled at Fulham earlier in the day to give themselves a two-point cushion in second place. Cucurella has had a strong start to the season but today's mishaps could have undone a lot of his previously impressive work.
