Man Utd 'call Sporting CP offices' over wonderkid Geovany Quenda as Red Devils begin planning transfers for Ruben Amorim era

Amorim will formally take charge at Old Trafford after appearing on the sidelines in his final game for Sporting CP on Sunday against Braga. The Portuguese coach is set to travel to Manchester on Monday and take the reins from interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

With Amorim on board as their new head coach, the Red Devils will look to bolster their squad in the next few transfer windows. Per Mundo Deportivo, United have called Sporting CP to enquire about the availability of Quenda, a 17-year-old winger who only made his senior debut this season.

The highly-rated youngster, who has already scored two goals and provided as many assists in his debut season, has been deemed a star for the future and attracted interest from several other European and Premier League teams. In fact, United may have to compete with rivals like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, who are also said to be keen on the teenager.

39-year-old Amorim's first official game in charge of United will come after the international break when they travel to Ipswich Town on November 24. Before that, they will play their final game under Van Nistelrooy's tutelage on Sunday against Leicester City.
