  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The reigning Premier League champions issued a statement on Monday to confirm the sad news following a "medical incident" at the Etihad Stadium during the match against neighbours Manchester United. According to the Manchester Evening News, the fan collapsed near one of the entrances to the ground and stewards rushed to provide medical assistance. The fan was then taken away in an ambulance.

    MAN CITY ISSUE STATEMENT

    A club statement read: "Manchester City are aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday's match. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

  • EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT

    An eyewitness gave an account of the incident to the Manchester Evening News: "It was about 10 past four. We were going into the grounds at entrance K and the gent was on the floor having CPR performed on him. It had just happened as there were only a few people in front of us. There was one steward working on him, and we were all screaming for them to get a defibrillator. It was chaos. A young girl ran over to get the defibrillator. At this point more stewards came running over and formed a circle around him. They worked on him for a long time, about 20 minutes and he was taken into an ambulance. We are all traumatised by it."
