An eyewitness gave an account of the incident to the Manchester Evening News: "It was about 10 past four. We were going into the grounds at entrance K and the gent was on the floor having CPR performed on him. It had just happened as there were only a few people in front of us. There was one steward working on him, and we were all screaming for them to get a defibrillator. It was chaos. A young girl ran over to get the defibrillator. At this point more stewards came running over and formed a circle around him. They worked on him for a long time, about 20 minutes and he was taken into an ambulance. We are all traumatised by it."
