Liverpool make Mohamed Salah move! Reds finally present Egyptian superstar with contract offer after superstar's 'more out than in' claim

The Reds have tabled an opening offer to Salah's representatives in a bid to extend his time at Anfield beyond this summer, when his contract expires, the Athletic reports. Salah has been magnificent for Liverpool this season and shook the footballing world when, in late November, he openly criticised the club for their lack of efforts to keep him at the club. He looks to have finally got his wish. However, it has been confirmed that an agreement between Liverpool and Salah is still some ways away.

After Salah helped Liverpool beat Southampton, the Egyptian went to reporters and said: "We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”

Salah was again the hero for Liverpool in their last game against Newcastle, scoring a brace, to make it 13 goals and eight assists from just 14 games and fire the Reds to the top of the table. The Egyptian appears to be getting even better with age so it is little surprise Liverpool are now finally attempting to keep the forward. Liverpool are also negotiating new deals with captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold - also both in the last year of their current deals.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will be able to keep Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold beyond this season. Negotiations will no doubt continue throughout the season, but the players will be free to speak with other clubs in January about moving on a Bosman deal in the summer. The Reds, top of the Premier League, have work to do to win another title and keep their three stars.
