  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Premier League giants, on Sunday, confirmed that Spanish goalkeeper Adrian has left the club after spending five years at Anfield. The 37-year-old made 26 appearances for the Reds and played a key role in the club's penalty shootout triumph over Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.

    In a statement released on the club's X account, they wrote, "Adrian departs Liverpool this summer having made a valuable contribution to the club’s successes across his five years at Anfield. A popular figure among teammates and staff alike, Adrian leaves the Reds with the best wishes of everybody at the club. Thank you for everything."

    Per The Athletic, the Merseyside club did offer a contract extension to the custodian, however, he refused to put pen to paper on a new deal. He is expected to head back to La Liga and rejoin his former club Real Betis.
