After Luis Suarez was fouled outside the box, Lionel Messi stepped up, lining up for a free kick. The Argentine maestro positioned himself and curled the ball around the wall and into the back of the net in first half stoppage-time for his second goal of the game against the Columbus Crew.

His two strikes helped Miami to a 3-2 victory, a result that saw them clinch the regular season title.

It was his second goal of the match, with his first coming off a brilliant overhead through ball from his longtime friend and teammate Jordi Alba. The defender found him outside the box, and after a few tricky touches on the ball, he slid it past USMNT goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.

A third from Luis Suarez was enough to see them earn three points, and the MLS Supporters' Shield.

Inter Miami clash with Toronto FC on Saturday before players depart for the international break. Messi will join Argentina for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia.
