VIDEO: Lionel Messi helps young fan evade security after he pitch invades for quick selfie during Inter Miami's MLS draw with Charlotte FC

A young fan managed to jump over the fences and run towards Messi on the pitch with his cellphone camera switched on, while Inter Miami were playing against Charlotte FC in an MLS fixture at Chase Stadium on Saturday evening. The Argentine superstar spotted him early, greeted the boy with a smile and posed to take a selfie with him. Meanwhile, the security rushed to the field to escort him away. As they were approaching, Messi urged the boy to flee and even gave him a head start with a slight push on his back to help him outrun the guards.

Inter Miami were struggling on the pitch to overcome a resilient Charlotte FC at the time. They fell behind before the hour-mark but Messi's heroics ensured that Tata Martino's men at least had a point to show for their efforts before they left the field. After he scored the equaliser, Messi lit up the pitch with an Iron Man-inspired celebration that drew huge cheers from the crowds.

Messi will be back in action against Columbus on October 2 in Inter Miami's next MLS fixture.
