Jarrod Bowen's 'heartbroken' wife Dani Dyer pulls out of Strictly Come Dancing ahead of live shows

  • Dani Dyer suffers serious injury

While Dyer's husband is perhaps more attuned to sporting injuries, she has expressed her regret at having to leave Strictly before the show even gets underway. The 29-year-old sustained a fracture to her ankle in rehearsal with partner Nikita Kuzmin and revealed her injury on social media.

Dyer announces news in teary video

Dyer took to social media to tell her fans about the development, holding back tears as she did so.

She said: “Hi guys, I’m going to do this, and try and do this without crying, but yeah, I’m so heartbroken, like I’ve not felt like this in such a long time.

“I was having the best time ever … It’s just [a] very, very annoying, devastating thing that I’m kind of going through right now, but I’m probably just going to have a few days off my socials just to, you know, process things.”

In a statement earlier in the day, she said: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.”

  • Dyer and Bowen's lavish summer wedding

Dyer and West Ham star Bowen have been married since June, tying the knot at the Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire. They then honeymooned in Italy, having previously had stag and hen parties in Ibiza with friends and family. They had been confident of avoiding the famous 'Strictly curse' but Dani has escaped it in the most heartbreaking way possible.
