Revealed: Jadon Sancho accepted 'significant' pay cut to force through Chelsea loan-to-buy & end miserable Man Utd spell

Sancho's miserable stay at Old Trafford finally came to an end on Friday as he moved to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal. The Blues have an obligation to buy him on a permanent basis next summer for a fee in the region of £20 million (€23m/$26m) to £25 million (€29m/$32m) depending on his performance.

The Athletic reports that the Englishman took a significant pay cut to force his move out of Manchester United as he looks to get his career back on track under manager Enzo Maresca, whose style of football suits Sancho's game much more than that of Erik ten Hag.

The 24-year-old was born in Camberwell, London and is a boyhood Chelsea fan. In his childhood, he was close friends with former Blues star Tammy Abraham and he had always dreamt of donning the club shirt someday.

The former Borussia Dortmund star, who is yet to appear in the Premier League this season, could make his debut for the Blues on Sunday as they take on Crystal Palace at home.
