Harry Kane not guaranteed to remain England captain under Thomas Tuchel as new manager makes 'respect' point after reuniting with Bayern Munich striker
Thomas Tuchel has refused to confirm whether Harry Kane will remain captain after being appointed England manager.
Tuchel is looking forward to working alongside Kane once more but, despite his obvious admiration for the striker, has said he has not yet decided if the striker will be his captain for the national side. Kane was worn the armband since the 2018 World Cup and has led by example for the Three Lions, scoring 68 goals in 101 appearances.
WHAT TUCHEL SAID
Tuchel offered the following response when asked if Kane would keep the armband. He told reporters: "Everyone knows how I feel about Harry. I fought very hard to bring him to Bayern. He is already on his way to being a legend. But it’s too early to make these decisions [about the captaincy]. I want to give the respect to Lee [Carsley] and not interfere [with the next two games]."
KANE WELCOMES TUCHEL
Meanwhile, Kane has already made sure to welcome Tuchel into his new job. He posted on X: "Looking forward to playing under the boss again!"

WHAT NEXT FOR ENGLAND
Kane is expected to lead England out once more in November when the Three Lions take on Greece and Ireland in Lee Carsley's final fixtures as interim manager. However, fans will have to wait and see who wears the captain's armband when Tuchel takes charge of the Three Lions in 2025.
