'Feel that in my cells' - Ryan Reynolds opens up on love-hate relationship with football as Wrexham co-owner drops hint on his future

The Hollywood actor and Wrexham co-owner, along with Rob McElhenney, has overseen a meteoric rise in Wrexham's fortunes since taking over the club in 2021. With the American actors on board, the Red Dragons have secured three consecutive promotions, becoming the first club in English football history to achieve such a feat.

After yet another historic campaign at the SToK Cae Ras, Reynolds revealed that he has fallen in love with football in the last four years while dropping a hint on his long-term future with the Welsh club.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the Deadpool actor said: "I’m glad it happened when we are at the age I’m at. Because I don’t think this is something I would have been able to handle any younger. I wouldn’t change anything about my time here. I don’t know how you get bored with something like this. I love this sport so much now that now I hate it too – I really feel that in my cells."

Reynolds and McElhenney's long-term vision is to see the club reach the Premier League. The celebrity owners are expected to spend heavily in the upcoming summer transfer window in an attempt to bolster Phil Parkinson's squad to compete in the Championship in the 2025-26 campaign.
