'Luck is not on my side' - Erik ten Hag insists Man Utd are 'playing good football' & 'will turn around' season despite dropping to 14th in Premier League table after West Ham loss

The Red Devils' misfortune in the 2024-25 campaign continued as they went down 2-1 against West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday. This was the team's fourth defeat in nine outings in the current season as they dropped down to 14th position on the league table. Despite the loss against the Hammers, Ten Hag remained positive as he claimed his team can turn the season around as they are playing quality football.

Speaking to reporters at his post-match press conference, the Dutch coach said, "In this moment, definitely the luck is not on my side [but] it's not about me, it's about the team, and it's not on our side. And last season was not different, but in the end, we turned this around and we are [were] so determined it would be the same case today. But we have to turn this around and it will turn around if we keep playing like we are playing now and, in this block - Brentford, Fenerbahce, today, we played really good football."

The former Ajax manager's future at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny after a poor start to the season. The owners held a meeting to discuss the manager's future earlier this month and ex-Barcelona boss Xavi has been tipped to replace Ten Hag at the helm at United. The Dutchman signed a fresh contract earlier this summer and his existing deal is valid until 2026.

The Red Devils will hope to end their misery and get back to winning ways on Wednesday as they host Leicester City at Old Trafford in a EFL Cup round of 16 clash.
