<p>The Brazilian goalkeeper was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ederson-wanted-al-ittihad-saudi-pro-league-offer-gbp25m-man-city-goalkeeper/blt82454764485c3fb0" target="_blank">linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League</a> in the summer, with top clubs from the region such as Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr reportedly keen on signing him. However, Ederson ended up staying put, with manager Pep Guardiola making a heartfelt plea for him to remain at the Etihad.</p>

<p>Ederson has opened up about the 'unusual' offer from Saudi Arabia and one particular <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/pep-guardiola-reveals-why-ederson-stayed-man-city-saudi-pro-league/blte6754eb77ab676ed#csbdb3be734ca7d4ab" target="_blank">conversation with Guardiola</a> that convinced him to stay back at City. The 31-year-old joined the Cityzens from Benfica in 2017 and has won every trophy available to him since his arrival, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League.</p>

<p>Speaking to <a href="https://tntsports.com.br/melhorfuteboldomundo/Ederson-diz-que-Guardiola-foi-primordial-para-permanencia-no-Manchester-City-20241012-0009.html" target="_blank">TNT Sports Brasil</a>, the City star said, "There really was a proposal on the table, something that weighed heavily because it was an unusual proposal... I had countless conversations with Guardiola, and one of them was essential. But from what he told me, the guarantees, the process and the evolution I had with him... All of that was essential for my staying at City."</p>

<p>The goalkeeper is currently on national team duty and could be next seen in action on Wednesday as Brazil host Peru in an important 2026 World Cup qualifying game.</p>
