FIFA officially confirmed on Wednesday that Portugal, Spain and Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup. The announcement comes as no surprise as the joint bid was the only one presented. The opening three matches of the tournament will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay - to mark the competition's centenary - before the action switches back to Europe and North Africa.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The news has gone down well in Portugal with Ronaldo who is clearly thrilled at the news. The Al-Nassr superstar is being tipped to play at World Cup 2026, even though he will be 41 when the tournament rolls around, and says it's a dream to see his nation awarded the 2030 edition of the famous tournament.
WHAT RONALDO SAID
He posted on Instagram: "A dream come true. Portugal will host the World Cup 2030 and make us proud. Together!"
Ronaldo has won a European Championship and a Nations League title with Portugal but has never lifted a World Cup. He may well try again for a final time in 2026 when the tournament takes place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
