Chelsea, Man City and Barcelona snubbed as Daniel Munoz agrees new Crystal Palace contract after standout season at Selhurst Park

The 27-year-old, who joined Palace in January 2024, was previously tied to the Eagles until 2027 with an option for an additional year - but his fresh terms now reflect his growing stature at the club. Munoz's extension comes despite strong interest from several top European sides, including Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as La Liga giants Barcelona. However, the versatile right-wing-back has opted to stay put in South London, where he has become a key figure in manager Oliver Glasner’s plans.

According to The Athletic, Munoz has signed on improved terms at Selhurst Park, a reward for his consistent performances throughout the season. He has made the right flank his own, with his tireless runs and dynamic forward movement becoming essential to Palace's style of play under Glasner. In fact, all six of his goals for the club have been scored in the current season, including a winner against Brighton and Hove Albion.

It was reported that Pep Guardiola viewed him as a potential replacement for veteran full-back Kyle Walker, who departed for AC Milan on loan in January. Chelsea and Barcelona were also believed to be monitoring the Colombian closely as they evaluated options to bolster their defensive lines. Despite the lure of bigger clubs and potential Champions League football, Munoz has decided to remain with Palace, a decision that reflects both his satisfaction with his current role and the club’s ambition under Glasner’s leadership.

Munoz will be back in action on Saturday against City in a Premier League fixture at the Etihad in an early kick-off.
