England international and Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly announced her shock retirement from international football on Wednesday, just hours after featuring in the Lionesses' Euro 2025 qualifying win over Ireland. As the 32-year-old brought the curtain down on her eight-year-long international career, Chelsea's Millie Bright paid a touching tribute to her colleague.

Taking to Instagram, Bright reposted a video of Daly as her story where she wrote, "One hell of a player but honestly the best human. Huge personality with the purest of hearts."

Daly came on as a substitute in Sarina Wiegman's side's 2-0 win over Ireland on Tuesday. It was her 84th international appearance for the Lionesses and also her final one. Lauren James and Alex Greenwood scored in the first half to seal an important win for their side.
