'I disappoint you today but I don't care' - Carlo Ancelotti refuses to discuss Real Madrid future amid confusion over Brazil job

Ancelotti's time at Real Madrid had looked to be up amid speculation that a deal had been agreed for the Italian to take charge of Brazil in time for June fixtures against Ecuador and Paraguay in World Cup qualifying. However, talks between the Selecao and Real Madrid appeared to be at the point of collapse after the veteran refused to sign on Brazil Football Confederation's (CBF) contract. ESPN later reported that CBF remains intent on securing Ancelotti as the next head coach of the national team. Despite persistent uncertainties, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has reportedly renewed his commitment to the manager, extending the timeframe for a decision.

The Brazilian governing body's latest extension gives the 65-year-old time until Los Blancos are no longer in the race for the La Liga title, a decision tied closely to the Spanish club's current standing. Barcelona currently sit atop the La Liga standings, maintaining a four-point lead over their rivals, with just five fixtures left in the season.

Speaking to reporters, the Madrid boss said: "My feeling is to think about tomorrow’s match and try to win it. And then, prepare well for the next match, which will be very important and will give us the opportunity to fight even more for this competition."

He added: "I’m fine. I understand that you want to talk about my future, but I do not. It’s simple. It’s a lack of communication with you. I know perfectly well what I have to do, what I am going to do and what I do, which is not to talk about my future today. I know I disappointed you today, but I don’t care."

The reigning Spanish champions will be back in action in La Liga on Sunday as they take on Celta Vigo in a crucial home fixture.
