The Matildas, who are ranked 12th in the Fifa rankings, needed just five minutes to open the scoring courtesy of Cortnee Vine who capitalised on goalkeeper Regirl Ngobeni's mistake.

The former then completed her brace in the 25th minute after Banyana's defence was caught out of position following dispossession in midfield.

Claire Polkinghorne then made it 3-0 four minutes to the break when she rose highest to head in a corner kick.

The Australians then scored their fourth in the 53rd minute courtesy of Caitlin Foord but Hildah Magaia ensured his team got a consolation with five minutes to go.

The results did not go down well with the supporters considering the fact that their team had also lost 6-0 to Brazil on September 5.
