THE BIGGER PICTURE
Napoli had earlier considered approaching Atalanta's Gasperini, who recently won the first major trophy of his career as he guided the club to a Europa League triumph. The 66-year-old, however, is now in talks to sign a new contract. With Gasperini out of the picture, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis does not want to wait any longer as he plans to close the Conte deal soon.
